A Roman tessellated floor was apparently discovered here in 1823, however its location is unknown and nothing is visible today either on the ground or on aerial photos. There is a similar claim for the adjacent property at Musley Bank  and so it is possible the two are in fact the same site, but its precise location is not known. In the  entry for Malton in Roman-Britain.org, Roughborough is mentioned as a substantial Roman building. We are not aware of any substansive evidence for this claim.
