Whilst a Roman sarcophagus was found here in 1956 (now in the Yorkshire Museum), other finds are limited. The farmer has claimed to have discovered wall footings whilst ploughing, although the only evidence to suggest a villa come from possible parchmarks on an aerial photograph, an area of cobbled and graveled metalling (possibly a road), and a few sherds of Samian ware.
