Slack 1968-69 - can you help?

The Huddersfield & District Archaeological Society have been excavating in the vicus area of Slack Roman Fort near Huddersfield in 2007-08.

As part of their report they are attempting to complete a review of the unpublished excavations directed by Brian Hartley in 1968-69 as rescue archaeology in advance of the construction of the M62 motorway.

Part of this archive survives and there is a reference to “the pottery lady” who was working on the pottery dating and drawings as late as 1990. Kay Harley has failed to elucidate the issue and she also confirms
that the missing person was not Brenda Dickinson.

If you have any knowledge of the Slack excavations in 1968-69 and think that you might be able to identify “the pottery lady” would you please contact HDAS through their field-work coordinator Granville Clay at claygran@aol.com
